2009 WEST TEXAS IRIS SOCIETY EVENTS

April 2 - “Design Techniques" by Ramon Howard, accredited National Council of Garden and American Iris Society Master Judge.

April 18 - West Texas Iris Society 31st Annual Iris Show at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with a theme of “Iris Library” in the design section. Entries 7 – 10:30 AM. Public viewing 12:30 – 4 PM. All free and open to the public.

May 7 - “Iris in the Garden” program that shows the wide variety of irises in commercial, residential and public gardens from Jill and Joe Bonino and Bob Plank.

May 11-17 - American Iris Society National Convention in Kansas City Missouri. For more info go to www.irises.org.

June 4 - 2009 “Kansas City National Convention Extravaganza – American Iris Society” by Region 17 RVP Debbie Strauss.

July 9 - “Plans for August Rhizome Sale” by sale chair, Leilani Mathews.

August 6 - "Promoting Iris Cultivation in Young People" & "The AIS Youth Coloring & Essay Contests" by Debbie Strauss American Iris Society Master Judge.

August 20 – Prep iris rhizomes for sale at homes of Leilani Mathews.

August 22   - WTIS Iris Rhizome Sale 9 am at Manning’s Garden Center on Golf Course Road.

September 3 - “Come Join the Club” and receive free iris!  Member’s in good standing iris bingo!

Sept 11-12 – “Garage Sale” Connie Ford hosting.

October 1 - “Species Iris” by Robert Barton, secretary of SIGNA.
